Happy New Year!

Just wanna share

This cattleya has been with me for awhile and never fails to flower no matter what the conditions it is put in. It's in a new pot and subdivided. The divisions i attached it on live trees. I am just thankful that the blooms continued to progress.

the so called "ground orchid"

i need help in identifying this orchid and where should i put it? it seems like its not sending out new roots and i have a feeling (based on the structure of its roots) that its somewhat "soil-based" or "lithophytic".

thank you so much for any response.

enjoy!

Godbless!

enjoy!

Default just a simple update

Mabuhay!

Whoa! its been awhile since i visited my own thread. Got to say this that the weather over here is freaking me out, i feel like there's a tag of war among the groups of summer, wet season, el nino and the tail end of a cold weather and add the mother nature calamities around the world, i just can't help thinking watching again the film 2012.

Anyway, just want to add some pics to my old thread. Some of my orchids are in bloom again.

till then..

Default Tranferees

Mabuhay!

thank you all for the kind words. Godbless you.

Whoa! A neighbor of mine just cut down a full-grown chico tree. Its sad because with the dwindling number of trees on the planet it seems like a mortal sin to cut one down. Anyway, somehow its also a blessing because there will now be more sunlight to enter my garden which would benefit many of my plants including orchids.

Since, its raining here for quite a number of days now i decided to tranfer my vanda to its new location and to make my garden look more natural.

its initial location....

its new location...i cut off some of the branches of my mango tree

to see just how far it is from the ground...

Just bought a lamellata yesterday from Baclaran around $2.

i transferred it here...i divided it into two but i wasn't able to get a picture where i placed the other one.

something to look forward to...

my vanda manuvadee would like to bloom again...sorry for the dark photo but the spike can be clearly seen.

Enjoy. Thank you Lord.

I see mujacko you're into our local species uhm well same to you, I buy species in Baclaran too but unfortunately most seller there will always try to fool us. The best example there is their "waling waling" hahaha they will told you every vanda you will see there is waling waling as long as it is strap leafed.

BTW I got lot of collectible species there and those I might trust there is Ate Neria and her husband Kuya Ely. Most species I bought from them are correctly identified and they, too, knows a lot of Phillipine orchid species.

Lastly, excuse me about my bad english hehe.

Mabuhay!

hi makoldoy. Glad to hear from a fellow kababayan. No problem with your english, bro.

Actually, my work is just near the place so whenever i have the chance to go there i would but i always find time them to go there . (adik talaga!!!)

And yes, i got duped so many times in Baclaran but this time i have a number of people who sells me the right stuff. If i'm not mistaken the people you mentioned is situated along the end of the aisle coming from Max's resto. Actually, i'm into collecting native species of orchids whether it has the tiniest of flower or the weirdest of foliage because i want to help in the preservation of our endemic species.

hey, just want to remind you that there's going to be an orchid and garden show at QC Hall from August 25 to September 06. See you there.

Hehehe tumbok mo (you pointed out)

Here's the list of species I bought there:

Grammatophyllum speciosum
Dendrobium junceum
Coelogyne usitana
Rhyncostylis retusa
Dendrobium macrophyllum
Vanda lamellata (unsure about var)
Vanda lamellata var boxallii
Vanda ustii (Kuya Ely sold it very cheap)
Staurochilus luzonensis
Dendrobium taurinum
Dendrobium bullenianum
Grammatophyllum multiflorum var tigrinum

and other identified genus.

I'm planning to go there later and if I can't find anything that interest me then I'll head to MSB.
