First Bloom Seedlings
When this cross first bloomed last year, the flower was absolutely terrible. Color was good, but form was---well, crappy comes to mind. It was so bad, I didn't even take a picture of it and even considered tossing it in the compost pile. But, this seemed such a high %age cross, I decided to give it one more year. I think maybe I made the right decision! Many times, Cattleya crosses don't come into their own until they have bloomed 2 or 3 times. Wonder how many good orchids I have pitched over the years?!?!?!

great colour! i like the saturated purple! i have one of this colour too but its a noid. too bad you didn't save the earlier seedlings... but maybe you'll consider now...
for me, i'll keep any orchids that i bought, regardless what happen to my chids, since i'm pretty much still a newbie here. some plants have great flowers when i purchase them, but turn to absolute crap when i do. some are good too. i need to learn more!

Awesome, Jerry. I have a plant that did the same thing, first bloom was, well, awful. Almost tossed it. You've given me hope. Thanks.

I'm glad you held on too. Aloha Case has really proven to be a good breeder. Any fragrance?
