Default Surprise! Max tenuifolia 'DelFavero Dark'

What a nice day I'm having!

I went to visit Laura today and came home with 7 TCs of my own

As I was placing them in their new spaces, I realized that one of my Max tenuifolia has an open bloom on it! I didn't even know it had a spike! ...and the bloom wasn't there when I watered them this morning

The second pic shows how red this one really is

Very nice surprise to come home to...smells yummy!

Beautiful Susanne. I have a very large plant and I don't believe it is going to bloom this year. Not a sign of a spike or bud. Hopefully mine will surprise me like yours did you.

Beautiful, well-formed flower!
How did you get it to bloom so young?

I have a much larger planting of another Max tenuifolia, but it's the one we always see. Last year, Laura and I went to a sale at Louis's place and they had a table full of these with really really red blooms and they caught our eye There were mostly larger (more expensive) plants but I found one small one in a pot for $5.00! Figuring I already had this plant at home...and probably 8 others in my arms already...I decided to get the little guy.

The big plant has not shown any signs of doing anything yet this year
