Default a few march bloomers

I've posted a couple of these elsewhere, but thought I'd post them all together here. My little winter-blooming family.

Very interesting things about them...

Den Pixie Charm: this year, it is blooming much more orange and with much more reflexed petals than last year. (Last year it was more yellow.) Also, didn't notice any fragrance last year, but now they are definitely fragrant of peaches. The Den. unicum parentage has really come through this time it seems.

Phal equestris: It's first blooming ever, and I'm pleased as punch with how beautiful it is and the number of blooms on this spike. Also just related in another thread, mine is actually fragrant—though I'd classify it as a stinker! I dunno if it has to do with how close the blooms ended up being to the fluorescent light, but they have a real rotten burnt rubber smell. Funny, since they look so dainty and pretty.

Phal lobbii: can't take credit for this, I received it in-bud last month. Funny story here...I purchased it as parishii (as evidenced by the tag). But it is most certainly lobbii. Oh well. It has won my heart over with its nodding little blooms. This one is also fragrant for me! A very nice clean smell like fresh linen..

Bulb guttulatum: this guy bloomed for me back in September! I was really surprised that a pseudobulb which had already put out a spike in the past would put out another one. I LOVE this Bulbo! The colors seem a bit more pronounced this time. I think it has gotten stronger light since last blooming. (And no, this one is not a stinker!)

Phal Mini Mark 'Holm': not much to say about this cutie. It also just bloomed for me this past June

They all look so cheerful.

When I first started growing orchids I bought a Den. unicum because I fell in love with the color. I bloomed for me and I was so thrilled. I really didn't know how to care for it and when it dropped it's leaves I was so disapointed. I thought it was dead, so it went into the trash.

Live and learn.

Wow, good job all around! I have a Dend. unicum on order, since it's been on my wishlist for ages, but I had no idea the 'Pixie' hybrid was even out there. What is the unicum crossed with?

Love your choices, Yvan and they all look so healthy. Been thinking about getting the Mini Mark for a long time. The Pixie Charm is one that I've been searching high and low for...so far, nowhere to be found, sniffles. (Checked out Parkside...they won't have these again till late summer, maybe)...more sniffles.

Enjoy and happy growing!

Sad, but I can't help having a little laugh, Marilyn. It's true—these deciduous 'chids live a risky life. Unicum especially can look extremely dead & ugly when the canes are bare.

Stephen— Pixie Charm = Yellow Chinsai x unicum...
————————————> Yellow Chinsai = Chinsai x heterocarpum
—————————————————————> Chinsai = moniliforme x unicum

Sandy, Mini Mark is really awesome. Blooms twice a year, and the flowers are just too cool. If you like spots & speckles, and you like orange, Mini Mark is a real winner. Here's a close-up for you for maximum enabler impact.
