One coming up this weekend, Ethan but, I'm not able to get away. I'll probably re-order it from the original vendor when the weather warms up.

Ethan many of the Potinaras were renamed with all the crazy reclassification that has been going on. According to OW the old name is Potinara, and the new name is Rhynchosophrocattleya.

Doc, Ethan is right you cant' register a plant "officially" unless you know the parentage. I Stevens case someone else created the cross but never registered it. Steven got permission from the creator to register it, and of course the creator was given credit for making the cross.

Ethan, Got your PM. Thanks for the heads up. From whom did you get the 'Ruby Red' plant?

I just picked up two more plants from the person I got the original from. I am excited to see how those flowers come out as the original plant is no longer. Each has a new growth started.

Terri - Thanks for the info....I liked Potinara better...it was so much easier to say!

Steven - I'm sorry to hear your original plant is no longer. I'm glad you were able to get some new ones!! I got mine from a vendor at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens Orchid Show last weekend. I can't remember the name of the vendor as I have never bought from them before....their orchids weren't the greatest, but I had to have that one!

Some very nice choices Ethan. The name Hawaiian Wedding Son 'Virgin' says it all. I love the semi-tubular lip.

Call you Potinaria a Rsc. Everyone like to abbreviate these days and that loooong name calls for an abbreviation.

Ethan, I forgot to thank you for posting the link to the thread I started here about being able to name the flower in memory of my mother. I hope you all enjoyed reading the story behind it.

For the sake of accuracy, the full name is Potinara Memoria Irene Feil 'Ruby Red'

Steven Feil

Jerry, you are right about Hawaiian wedding song 'virgin'. The name is so accurate - there is something so pure or 'virgin', if you will, about it!
It's quickly becoming my fav new catt...I've always wanted a white one and this one is large, and very fragrant, to boot!!!

George - When I got wedding song I did a forum search on it's name and found your thread about yours...I totally understand why you love it so much!! She's gorgeous!!! I can't wait for next year's blooms already!

Ethan,
I'll look forward to future pics from you as well as your impression of its growth habit. Mine is either totally asleep or growing extremely fast from first sign of pbulb to bloom in a very short time.
