New Year's blooms - 1/1/09
Some current bloomers. From left to right:
Ctna. Why Not ‘Roundabout’. One of the “usual suspects”. Pretty common, but easy and hardy and a regular bloomer for years. Just getting over a stay in “intensive care” for a bad scale infestation, but now recovered and still blooming like a champ.
Cymbidium Maureen Carter, first spikes in vase then bloom close-up. Didn’t think of a picture until I had cut a couple of spikes. This is a mid-sized Cym., but still too bulky to bring in the plant, so we just bring in the blooms. The Cym’s last really well as cut flowers too. There are so many nicer Cymbidiums, but too big for my space, and not warmth tolerant enough for my W-I conditions.
Paphiopedilum Golddollar. Couldn’t get a good color on this picture, too much “white-out”. This is a very yellow concolor bloom, and nice-sized, almost 5 x 5 inches. A reliable bloomer, every year for several years now.
