A Nice Neo Hybrid and a Bright Cat
1. Neostylis Lou Sneary (Neofinetia falcata x Rhynchostylis coelestis.
2. Blc Dennis Kone 'Lakeview' AM/AOS (C. Chocolate Drop x Blc Painter's Brush)
3. Pot. (Rsc.) Samantha Duncan 'Orange Tart' (Sc. Little Precious x Pot. (Rsc.) Hawaiian Prominence)
4. Aerangis biloba --Leaves under 2"
Rhynchostylis are generally very large plants but it had no influence on this Neo. cross. The plant is very small - 5' leaf span. And yes, it is very nicely perfumed.
The Blc Dennis Kone blooms twice per year - late summer and again in winter. It has a very heavy, waxy texture and the flowers last and last.
Pot. Samantha Duncan is a small plant (under 7') that blooms twice per year.

Very pretty flowers. I really like the Neostylis. makes me want to try some making some intergeneric crosses myself.... I would love to see the Aerangis when it opens too.

Susanne when the Blc Dennis Kone starts new growth I am going to divide it because the plant has gotten pretty large. I can share a division with you if you are interested. I also have three canes growing over the edge of the pot on my Den. Samarai that I could send you at the same time.

I am anxiously awaiting your photo of A. biloba. I am planning on getting this guy in the spring and would like to see how yours does. By the way, that leaf habit is not real typical. They often get larger. But yours appears happy.

I love the color of your neostylis Lou Sneary. I bought one, which I as told would be blue, but it bloomed out white. I prefer your blue one.
I also like your biloba, and I wonder what the pole you have it on is made of? It looks interesting.

I think I might love you, Jerry!
When the time comes, I'll see if I have anything in the collection you'd be interested in.
Thank you so much for your generous offer

Ross, I mislabeled the plant. It is not Aerangis biloba, it is Amsellia monticola. I am very sorry for posting the wrong information. I have Aerangis biloba and it is a nice looking plant even when not in bloom with it's dark green warty surface and the bi-lobed leaf tips. My plant is still a seedling with a six inch leaf span and two smaller plants that I am hoping might bloom soon.
When I was taking a picture of the bud, I dropped the plant and damaged the bud, but here is a picture of the flower with the damage, just to give you an idea what it looks like. Typically the spur is more spiraled and the flower is more cupped than this plant is showing. This is, however, the first blooming on a tiny plant and it might improve with age, as do we all.

Don and Marilyn, sorry it took so long to answer your questions. The plant was ordered from Oak Hill Gardens in the spring and it is growing on a piece of 1 1/2" PVC pipe with a hole drilled in the top for hanging and the pipe is covered with burlap. And Don, I bought Blc Dennis Kone from a small local nursery called Paradise Orchids. Unfortunately, they do not ship.
