"Cyrtochilum H.B.K. 1816 SUBFAMILY Epidendroideae, TRIBE Maxillareae SUBTRIBE Oncidiinae.
The 50 or so Cyrtochilum species were segregated from Oncidium on the basis of elongate rhizomes with well-spaced pseudobulbs, with 3 or 4 pairs of long leaves around the base, with sheaths that are longer than the pseudobulb which gives rise to an axillary, 9 to 12' [270 to 360 cm] long, branched, many flowered inflorescence with large flowers"
