Like a chandelier. *Stanhopea oculata. Anticipation building for this to open soon. I kept it outdoors with night temperatures in the low 40s F. It’s indoors in the sunroom now.

Eagerly awaiting blooming! These can tease you for a week or more, but does look like it's getting close.

Thanks Roberta. My third year experiencing this. My first year I was living in between 2 places an hour apart and didn’t know what to expect as to when and how it would bloom. As it was getting close, I remember loading the plant into my car every 4 days or so driving around with it back and forth between houses so I would not miss my first experience with it blooming. As you can imagine, these are awkward plants to transport when in spike. Yes, one of my many Plant Nut moments!

Anyhow, the times it has bloomed I could tell even before I opened the sunroom doors. That splendid fragrance just somehow wafts under and around and through the closed glass doors!
