I did it, I managed to bloom this rescue Vanda in this cold dried up wasteland. To think it was in such bad shape last year, and now it's back on track and rooting while rewarding me with two spikes!

Could you please show what it looked like before? If you have pictures of course. I have a couple of rescues, your success story will be my inspiration!

Sorry I've looked all over my camera and this was the only pict I found.
I got it from the local aunt who was trying get out of the orchid hobby. It was completely dehydrated and despite the big pot it was in, everything inside it was dead. To be honest I don't think I did a good job at rescuing it either. It was transitioned from wooden basket to metal basket then finally the plastic pot within the same year. The only thing I did right was giving it consistent watering, flushing, and as much light as I could (fullsun in winter.) I let It braved the cold rain and occasional cold draft sometime. When the weather become consistently cold down in the 40f, I shelter it from the night wind after it has baked in the full winter sun. As you can see I have a fairshare in abusing them too, they are quite resilient, im sure you'll succeed.

Does it sit in a plastic now and is this pot filled with media or is it empty?

Yes it is still in a plastic pot. The media is mostly styrofoam peanut, little chopped sphagmoss and a layer of coconut strings on top which I will remove soon.

You did great with this one! And it's really a beauty. And cold-tolerant!
