Gongora fulva - 1st time experiencing

Gongora fulva - 1st time experiencing a Gongora in bloom. It tried dying on me a few times after receiving from ecuagenera 18 months ago but summer outdoors last year and good plant lights this winter turned it around. Slight fragrance reminds me of Stanhopea occulata, but not as overpowering. First day in bloom so maybe scent increases.

Im fully impressed by anyone who can grow stahopeas, gongoras, or coryanthes. I love them but my conditions are too dry and extreem to even try. Kudos!

Thank you DeaC. I found ecuagenera to have very reasonable prices on these and if available in their Apopka FL location they will ship to you potted and somewhat acclimated; so, less risk than coming bareroot from equador. Best of luck!

Thank you Louis. I’m guessing that your growing conditions in the winter must be much more sunny and warmer than mine, or at least that is what I imagine the NM winters to be (conditions I wish I could provide for my cattleyas). Someone in AZ told me that their summers were like a hair dryer on the high setting blowing on tender plants. Despite my cold dark winters here, my only respite is the balmy, foggy summers along the RI coast which my orchids seem to appreciate while it lasts.
