Phalaenopsis javanica first bloom

First bloom of this Phalaenopsis javanica that I got this winter from Orchid Classics. This order actually ran into trouble with usps… the box arrived mangled and torn open. Orchid Classics was fantastic… they immediately sent this replacement plant, and I mounted it on cork because the spikes were headed right down into the moss, as they do with this species. The first bud has opened, with more buds on three spikes fattening up.

I do still have that damaged plant… it suffered stem damage from the rough treatment and is putting out a basal growth and is looking like it will survive, but it will take months or years to catch up. I submitted a usps claim with photo documentation but got no resolution.

Three blooms and one bud yet to open. I think there might be a slight fruity scent.

Beautiful blooms and the plant looks so healthy! Do you water it daily?

Yes, at least every morning I spray the mounted plants before I leave for work. Often they get a quick hello spray when I get home. I do plan to automate this with a mister system.
