Default Epidendrum nocturnum

First bloom of this Epidendrum nocturnum that I acquired this fall. The flower was only open for about 8 hours. No scent that I could detect (and I did stick my head into the grow tent several times that night .

It's a young plant, may not have had the energy to support the flower. I'd suggest that when it's time to repot (new roots appearing) that you put it in a basket or other situation where it can dry out after watering. Some of these have the bad habit of self-pollinating (and therefore short flower lifetime) but it just may need to mature a bit more. Time will tell.

Yeah, they are one of the most common wild orchids here in Costa Rica. The self-pollination is kind of annoying. Many won't even open the flower, selfing before the petals even unfurl. But if they open, the flower should last for 4-7 days if they don't get pollinated.
I don't think they are all fragrant, as the ones in my area are not.
They are pretty adaptable with heaviest flowering in nearly full sun and ample water without getting waterlogged. But they do well even when they are are in the shade and will survive a month without water without problems.
