insel mainau is an island in the obersee, southern germany and is a large botanical collection complete with a sweet butterfly house as well as a palm house which is the site of an anual orchid exhibition. we went there last week and it was a nice time. how lucky we got with the weather!
but, if you are a plant nerd and happen to be in the area, it is worth a trip...unfortunately the orchid exhibition ends in early may, but the rest of the island is totally worth it! hope you enjoy....
