hi ob

a bit of a bloomwatch for ya! this plant was delivered almost a month ago and had a nice stout “leaf” growing. well, being new to these guys, didn’t realize it was actually a bloom! and wow, these guys pop out fast, as it was just a little more swollen on saturday morning, but 3 days later and here we are.

from our research when we got them, this species seemed like a nice balance between nice looking flower, and fairly easy to grow. i really like how hairy the stem is, hahaha.
anyway, wichmann delivered on this one, for sure....hopefully it goes all the way and the flower is true!

thanks! yes, even tho we can’t take credit for the bloom, we are happy that it has continued to grow and seems quite vigorous. the media is totally trashed however, and it really really needs changing. hopefully we can go till spring.

altho still deciding whether to try it in semi hydro or to stick with bark and leca.

We'll definitely give you credit for looking after it and taking care of it, as well as being kind enough to show us a nice photo of the plant and the spike. It's a very nice photo.

in the spirit of celebrating successes and failures alike, here is the dead spike on our gratrixianum

oh well, such is life. and the new orchid challenge is to get at least one of our paphs to actually flower and not just spike and die!!
