gigantea alba x yungho gelb canary
the first bloom for this plant (gigantea alba x yungho gelb canary), and while i don’t want to count the chickens before they hatch, im stoked about this one! finally getting our first phal blooms of the season!!!
created a thread for this about training the spike, and this pic/thread is the result. thanks for the good advice, as always....
how do you train a spike?
last week the buds went pretty pale in a day or two and i thought they were gonna blast. but since then the colors have been filling in more every day and now im hoping it’s gonna open soon! looks like there might be spots or bars developing on the margins, so im excited to see what happens there. love to know more about this cross if anybody has any info?!

i love seeing a bud stretch out from the main spike, but arrrgghh, the anticipation kills me! patience, patience....
and finally got the rhs search to work, and this cross was registered by prince orchids (?) in 2017 as YangYang Supermodel.

ikr, damn orchids just don’t know when to sit down and be quiet! half the time we come home from work and catch them bouncing around the living room like they’ve been eating candy all day. sheesh, shoulda picked a quieter hobby....

well, perhaps this is as open and flat as the flower will be. the only other bloomed pics i can find are also somewhat pouty. but yeah, i like this one. the lip shape leaves something to be desired, but i like the color transition on ours. and our dots (at least one this first bloom) are more dot-like and less rubbed out than the angela six flower pics. here is the link to the six orchid on orchid roots
Phalaenopsis YangYang Super Model
happy with it tho, and hope it continues to make more flowers!

That is very nice!!! That's the kind of lip I really like ----- the ones without fangs! Colours and patterns are really nice in this one. Very nice pic.
