Yours look really nice. I have some growing in the garden that just sort of survive, but are not really doing great. Maybe I will dig them up and pot them like yours.

You should prevent the dormant bulbs to get watered...in a garden it might be difficult.
If you put one or two bulbs in a pot, it will grow like weeds.

Interesting... I have most in pots, but I put one batch (generic pink ones) in the ground. The ones in the ground have done much better - spread out more each year. I started the plant in some good potting soil in a hole, and it has spread far beyond that, into my very horrid heavy clay soil. (and they get watered in the winter when they are dormant) Fiddler, first Welcome! Where do you live?

White and hot pink are the color forms most often seen, I just got a coerulea.. it needs to do some growing to become impressive, but another very nice variation on the theme. And Bletilla ochracea is a gorgeous yellow, closely related, same conditions. A wonderful group of terrestrials - among the few that can grow in the garden in many locations.

Those of you with access to the Missouri Botanical Garden, known there as Shaw's Garden - there is a beautiful planting of the normal form of this in the ground around the pavilion in the Chinese garden.

I have been looking for a nice ochracea for a while but it seems there aren't a lot for sale. The only one I found with good flower form was bred to have a pink tint, which sort of defeats the whole novelty of a yellow Bletilla.
