Default C. tenebrosa and Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown

This pic is showing a C. tenebrosa 'Rainforest' and Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown 'Sweet Afton m. Splash'.

The tenebrosa 'looks' much bigger hehehe ..... as it's more in the foreground.

kruger ------- oh geeez! I knew I saw some whitish images or movement in the growing area through the window the other night in the very early hours of the morning!

Only kidding hehehehe. Actually - these poor tenebrosa flowers got bashed about by strong winds, so ended up a little floppy by the time I was able to get the pic with my Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown.

But if you go to this link here (click here) ----- the flowers are in much better condition.

Don't be afraid of tenebrosa flowers. Their tan/brown tepals are really nice, and the lip is like a purpurata lip.

They are very pretty flowers, but they aren't pretty like a daisy. It's a little more macabre or unsettling. Sometimes their lips are so dark, it's almost black looking.

Anyways they are a classic species.

Kruger ----- know what you mean there!

'Beauty' is definitely quite general and broad. Just like some people find certain colours and food and scents etc attractive, I think it might be like that for flowers too.

For myself, I find all orchids and flowers 'beautiful' ------ sort of along the lines of never judge books by their cover or to attach past experiences to them ----- as they're really just innocent plants --- doing some flowering.

I was only kidding before ----- about seeing stuff at night heheheh. The colours of these flowers are sort of different than a lot though ----- absolutely agree. When I first saw the flowers in January ----- on the holiday trip, I really wanted to bring the orchid home, to watch future flowerings - and take nice pics of them as well ----- to share around also.

The lip of tenebrosa truly reminds me of those purple morning glory flowers!! Just the shape of them - and maybe colour too.

Love that tenebrosa.

Is that the same one you bought in holiday and brought back with you?

I am a big fan of the “dark” flowers. If there is an element of the macabre added in it makes the flower more complex and multi-dimensional, imho

That's the same one DC!

This next thing I'm going to write is purely joking only hahaha ----- not serious at all.

When kruger mentioned macabre, creepy, unsettling ----- I then turned attention to 'krueger' ----- eg. freddy.

Kruger ----- purely joking here! I know what you mean about the colour of the flower. The darkish vein/capillary and clotted dark blood look in the lip could certainly bring up certain past-experience (horror movies etc) imagery!

To lighten things though hehe ...... I'll put up a link about what I mean about reminding me of morning glory -----

Keeping it cheerful hehe ...... I won't even go down the path of 'mourning glory' or 'gory morning' hehehe.

I'm going to be sleeping with the lights on tonight - just in case!
