This cute flower orchid was acquired only today. I thought the bowl-shaped lip was so cute, and this one is my first ever proper orange-colour flower orchid.
The flowers are quite small actually. Maybe the size of my thumb nail.
This one will be transferred today to small pieces scoria media.
Pics of the same kind of flower has appeared on this forum before! A few years ago, and before that too.
A note... this one is closely related to Den. lindleyi (aggregatum) - needs a dry winter rest to bloom. (For future reference, of course it's spring where SP lives)
It may be a challenge to rebloom... the species comes from fairly high elevations in SE Asia, India, and southern China, and experiences cool winters along with the "dry" part.
Thanks for those details Roberta! This orchid was raised in the tropics. This one's systems might fortunately be adapted to the conditions here. But it will first have to get off the mark and keep growing after the change of media. I will keep a close eye on this one.
