Thanks.
It was just a shot in the dark. I certainly wasnt expecting the level of support I got from the company rep, Michelle.
All she needed was a PDF with photos.

Diane! This will motivate me to head over to Bunnings this morning to see if that same plant is still there, and I'll try my luck and ask the representative to see if they can get a name! Nice work with getting names for your plants there! That was excellent!

Diane! I went to the same Bunnings this morning - and the orchid is gone, along with a purple flowered mini that was next to it. Somebody bought them I think.

I took pics of them all yesterday hahahaha. Interestingly, gone today!

Very nice blooms! I haven't seen that shade of salmon pink? before.

I'm a bit jealous. I just cannot keep a phal alive. I've killed every single one...!

You're definitely going to have things under total control after a short time Jeff!

Maintain a pretty good growing temperature for the leaves as well as the roots. Medium level lighting (for long enough duration each day) will work nicely for phals in general.

If you have 1 phal for trying out in a big pot, then you could try a fairly large pot (but not super massive haha) ---- with lots of nice drainage holes on the bottom --- big enough drainage holes for both drainage and air-movement. And use a media that won't become easily water-logged.

And then water the media mainly in regions outside of the main root zone ------ eg. towards the outskirts (rim regions) of the pot.

The inner region (toward the main root zone) doesn't need to be completely dry ----- or at least not dry all the time - so that the roots can still absorb some nutrients/fertiliser/elements hanging around in the media. But the inner zone can be made to be much less wet than the outter zone.

And - as usual ----- gentle air-movement ...... very gentle is just fine --- in the growing area. That can benefit orchids a lot.

If you haven't tried that approach above, then see how that goes - just for 1 plant. Maybe it will work well for you too.

That's a gorgeous mini Phal, SP! You don't come across those salmon colors all too often, and the flower shape is very nice.

Camille .......... extremely happy over here that you and other members here are enjoying the photos of this mini phal! Privileged to be able to share all my orchid pics like this!

Thanks for your very nice comments!! I didn't realise until you mentioned it that the salmon colours aren't seen as much - in mini phals! That got me by surprise Camille!

Orchid Kid ------ this one does have a scent. Relatively weak in strength ------ not to a point of needing to try hard to detect something though. Definitely a scent there. A very nice kind. No unpleasant tones detected!

Im finding orchids, both the phals and the bag baby type seem to be disappearing quickly from Bunnings and prices seem to be heading upwards on ebay.
I try to buy from the nurseries if at all possible to maximise choice and save paying the added on ebay fees.
