Default Budding young (and old) orchids

Orchid flower buds - even unopened ones - are so nice to see and watch.

My special moment here is this is my first own-flowering of a phalaenopsis. A mini-phal.

The Rlc. Village Chief North 'Green Genius' is making its debut flowering. First time bud for this plant - so it has got off the mark now.

Rlc. Memoria Crispin Rosales 'No. 2' ----- don't know what 'No. 2' means ----- possibly No.2 and nobody else dares to claim No. 1 spot hahaha. Joking of course.

Nice to see a few 'Aussie' blooms. Looking forward to the pics when fully opened.

This is a pic update!

The phal flower has opened right up now. The diamond shape and violet/purple colour of the lip is a nice feature of this one.

The 'Green Genius' flower has sort of a crooked left-hand petal from what I can see so far. Maybe still opening. But nothing that those 'helping hands' tools can't fix hahaha. Those 'helping hands' tools can help prop-up the petal and hold them in place until the flower 'sets'. They can work wonders haha.

The Rlc. Memoria Crispin Rosales is still opening up. There's the interesting egyptian style lines in the throat. Also some push and shove going on obviously from the next-door-neighbour flower hahaha.

Beautiful, any fragrance on any of the blooms?
The Rlc. Memoria Crispin Rosales looks like it has dowiana in its heritage.....just love that ljp! Certainly is a strong trait.

Hi Diane! After you mentioned that dowiana type trait, I took a look online to see how much dowiana this one has ..... and the details on bluenanta ancestry returns approximately 30 percent dowiana.

For some reason, I keep associating the dowiana patterns with egyptian style lines ------ but after searching online for a while ----- can't find any egyptian patterns like dowiana patterns haha. Looking at dowiana patterns a bit more ------ they really do appear like certain kinds of tree-branch patterns ----- of some sort -- starting with a main stem, then little side branches coming out. This pattern is incredibly prominent and showy in dowiana!

Diane --- Rlc. Memoria Crispin Rosales does have a scent --- the fragrance is quite ok. Not unpleasant at all. Ok to smell this one! No nasties with the smell on this one.

For me, the dowiana trait seems to be the lined throat, it certainly is a dominant parent even if its a couple of generations back.
