Default Rth. Dal's Success 'Michelle'; C. Jewel Red 'Shinzu'

These flowers are starting to open up - a nice yellow, and a nice red one.

Rth. Dal's Success 'Michelle' ----- interesting name haha.

Also interesting name is C. Jewel Red 'Shinzu'. It really is Jewel Red ..... not Red Jewel.

This morning, I noticed big blobs of liquid that appeared like water on the lip itself - just under the column region of the lip ----- probably just the orchid sap came out from somewhere in the flower. I like to keep orchid flowers dry.

Past flowering of these same plants have been shown before in the Cattleya section of the forum. This time, I've included fresh flower opening pics. Not fully open yet.

Google links are added below - same pixel dimensions, but sharper.

Nice! Are these bred to be smaller plants, or are these standards?

ES ..... for both orchids here ..... I don't know if they were bred to be compact ... but can definitely say that the flowers are less than standard size.

The yellow flower one can get a slightly larger flower if only a single bud develops.

The person (who isn't with us any more) --- 'Dal' (David Arthur Littman) apparently did a lot of breeding work to produce some mini catts. One of the nice yellow mini catts he ended up with is Rth. Dal's Emperor 'Michelle'.

I just found out from online information that David Littman was the originator of the cross Dal's Success and Dal's Emperor.

I think he was purposely aiming for some small catts in part of his work.
