Sure! Some bloom on much smaller plants... "blooming size" is whatever it is... it it blooms, it's blooming size.

My LC Busy Bev 'Blue Jewel' spikes like this on every new growth. The buds start poking up before the leaves have even emerged halfway from the bract, and sometimes the buds open before the new growth is even close to mature.

That one looks like it has some of one (or more) of the Hadrolaelias (the ones that bloom straight from the leaf axil instead from a sheath) in its background. They hide the buds in the developing leaf, then Bingo! out they pop. If it's a mix, it could bloom from a sheath sometimes and directly from a developing leaf another time. Fun of genetics!

the white "Styrofoam" is actually big perlite. there is some Ochiata in there (power) i believe even though i would not typically have done so for my Catt-types...i confess i keep a small tote of lava, perlite and charcoal and then i add to it as needed and occasionally i will be lazy and use the last of the last batch rather than make new mix and you may have caught me LOL

Ah okay, big perlite. Yes some have recommended that for increasing drainage on a Palm forum that I am also on. Thanks!
