Orchids in Bloom July 2nd. Male
Default Orchids in Bloom July 2nd.

Hello all,

The number of orchids I have about to bloom is coming to an end for the season. What is nice though is that many of the ones I’ve already posted are still in bloom.

Today I have Brassidium Kenneth Bivens, Brassavola nodosa, and Aeranthes grandiflora.

Stay tuned for what is likely the final set of blooms for a bit with Brassavola Grand Stars, Cattleya Black Forest, Cattleya Siamese Doll, Angraecum Longiscott, Phal. Violecea, Neofinitia falcata, Masd. Confetti, and Phal bellina.

The nodosa is the only one with a fragrance. It smells similar to those green leaf pistachio cookies. It is quite strong under the right conditions.

As with other similar orchids, it is also only fragrant during the night.

Very pretty. What conditions do you grow the Brassidium in?

It sits on the top shelf on the north side of my greenhouse which means it should be getting the south and north sun so I think it gets fairly high light.

It tends to also get pretty warm inside the GH (triple digits even with the doors open, the vents opened, and the fan running) so I’d say it also is under very warm conditions.
