Roots look quite good. In the new medium (which will drain fast and dry fast) just water more frequently - the air that water pulls into the root zone is also essential to healthy roots.

Yeah, you're fine. That plant still has plenty of good roots. I tend to be an overwaterer, so I pot my Phals in the same mix I pot my Catts in (medium orchidata, LECA, charcoal, stalite, and sponge rock). If you don't want to have to water so often, you could mix a little sphagnum into your bark mix to help it retain water longer, as Phals don't like to get completely dry. I'd also recommend ordering some KelpMax from FirstRays at KelpMax Superior Plant Growth Stimulant - 1 Liter >> First Rays LLC

You'll start out buying the 1 liter bottle, but once you realize how well it works, you'll decide to buy the 4 liter bottle (which saves you 50 something dollars over buying 4 separate 1 liter bottles).

Use it on your sick plants, and apply it to your healthy plants with a tablespoon full in one gallon of water every month. That stuff works miracles. My plants are so much better since I started using it, and it is great for resuscitating a sick plant (might mix it a little stronger for a sick plant and then let it soak a while). I'm skeptical of most additives that promise to invigorate your plants, but this stuff really works. In fact, I'd almost say it's magic, and I don't even believe in magic. (and BTW, Ray is a regular contributor on this forum, however I have no official connections to him, we are not friends, except that we are friendly to each other on here, I have never met him, and I have no stake in promoting his business. I just really believe in his product).

Let us know how it goes. I'm interested to see what happens now.

I'm afraid that I don't have good news...

The stem that the baby was coming out of had started to die back, and is only maybe about 2cm away from where the node with the keiki is. Also I'm not sure what happened but it looks like the leaf of the keiki was damaged 😭

Meanwhile there's another growth on the second stem that is existing.. will see what comes out of that one!

Default Double keiki

In a curious turn off events the other stem that this phal has also has a keiki on it.

Let's see if they'll both survive. Meanwhile I've been using Schultz fertilizer for every other watering session. Is this too often?
