That's just a little section of it in the picture.

And yes, I love the lipstick on that pig. Wish I could remember what it is.

I have always desperately wanted this plant, but my understanding is that it is a cool grower, so I never bought one. What kind of temperatures does yours endure? I think I certainly couldn't put it outside with the others in the summer, when we regularly have days in the 90s, but what if I kept it in the house during the summer and just put it outside for a bit in the spring and a bit in the fall. I could keep it real close to the window in the winter where it stays cooler, but in the summer it would just be at room temperature constantly, about 68 degrees. How do you get yours to thrive like that?

Lc. Trick or Treat 'Orange Beauty' (Lc, now known as Cattlianthe)

Notice the different coloration between the front view of next two pics. That's really how they each look.





Now here's one of my droopy bloomers. Den. Little Atro. It has twelve spikes this year, and appears maybe two more coming on. This is one of the more disappointing Den's I grow, not because it doesn't thrive, but it's one of those impossible to take pictures of, impossible to enjoy unless you're laying on the floor blooms. My breeder friend says they've been working on that droop for years, and still haven't gotten too far with a better form.



And here's me kneeling on the kitchen floor, attempting to take a better picture, while holding back two of the canes. It reminds me of a Catt species I have that's much smaller, but just as droopy.

They're all fantastic, but that LC Trick or Treat just takes my breath away.

Well, it's a high cool to low intermediate grower... guessing 55F night to max 70ishF day. No, I can't keep it outside in summer. LOTS of temps over that here. I usually don't bother putting it outside since it's not a high light intensity plant to begin with. It lives either in the BatCave under lights or in a window in sunroom. To get it blooming, I just make sure it gets a 10-15 degree day/night change for a few weeks. It's usually a later bloomer, but I was conditioning some cymbs in the BatCave so stuck it in with them. Otherwise it would be a bit later.

Sounds like you run your AC cooler than we do. 68F wouldn't be a problem.

And yeah, that Trick or Treat is a division off one of the earliest Catt types I ever had. It's a tough one, to survive my early orchid years learning curve.
If you get one, get the 'Orange Beauty,' as it's a much nicer cross than some.

My first orchid that was not a grocery store Phal was SLC (at the time, now CTT) Jewel Box 'Scheherazade'. There were some ups and downs, but I never managed to completely kill it, and my Jewel Box that I have now is a division of that first plant I got, nearly 30 years ago.

So it appears I haven't posted any pictures of my bloomers since April. I've had blooms, but nothing that's really excited me much... a couple of Catatante, both recently divided so not a super amount of blooms, another bloom from my pew-pew-pew dark purple orchid (can't remember name right now), and the ever-blooming phrag. Since I was taking pictures of the Rssglm I took these...





I've had this forever, since back in the day when I started growing orchids. It's been divided and given away several times. Can't remember anything about it. Maybe a Blc? Who knows. I'm not even super fond of the colors, but someone else might be. It stays because it's lived through so much trauma drama as it got potted in bark, mounted, back to bark, then semi-hydro where it's stayed. Definitely a hardy sucker.

That orange one is spectacular! I need it! They have it at SVO, but I placed an order there a couple days ago , and he's already got it packed up and ready ship. I guess I'll have to place another order in the near future lol

My how that inspires me. I want nothing more than for my tiny baby one to grow up big and strong like yours. I think I can do it. I just have this feeling that I've got what it takes. Only time will tell, but in a few years, maybe I'll be the one posting the bloom picks from my Rossioglossum. You really encourage me, and I appreciate that.

That looks like an orchid I was looking at the other day Rhyncattleanthe Burana Beauty 'Burana'
I believe it used to be Potinara...or maybe its the other way round. They keep changing the names, I cant keep up.
