In the 1980s I was in a writing group with an author in Topanga Calif for many years. She was a personal friend of Anais and told the story about the NY Times and LA Times reporting her death. LA reported husband as Pole and NY the husband was Hugo. I thought that very interesting as I am a loyal monogamist and only married once.
She never divorced and moved from the two cities to stay with Rupert Pole. m 1955–1966 and
Ian Hugo m. 1923–1977
I know little more about her at the time. I later saw Henry and June, a movie about her friendship and living with them in France.
Have not read her diaries, but have an audio tape from her visiting and writing about the Baths in one of the county of Africa.
I am saving her diaries for when I am OLD.

Thanks! My mgrandma had a ten piece place setting, glasses, plates, egg cups, the whole shebang. She used it for special occasions like birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas. By the time I got the set, two egg cups, three plates, and five glasses. But she actually USED them, which is what makes them priceless!

It caught my eye to when I first saw your photos, since then I have been digging out all my mothers antique cristal glass ware like sugar bowls and a small round but heavy one that was used for butter. I have a "bargain square" store near by and I am going to go check for other ideas for outer pots. Thanks for sharing that, and it makes tears come to my eyes, think about my mother and grandmother.

Okeydoke, wanna see some more of my Bloomers? Today I've chosen a vibrant orange, and another one that's very droopy.
Lc. Trick or Treat 'Orange Beauty' (Lc, now known as Cattlianthe)
This is a small division of the very first Lc I ever grew, and first gift from a breeder who's become a very good friend over the years, and one of my favorite Lc's period. It was specimen size for years (pretty sure I got it in 2007, and it used to be in a huge punch bowl probably 18" across. I kept sharing it, and now it's down to this. Gotta stop sharing for awhile. Oh, and also notice the dried sheath on the right hand side. Grrrrr.
Notice the different coloration between the front view of next two pics. That's really how they each look.
Now here's one of my droopy bloomers. Den. Little Atro. It has twelve spikes this year, and appears maybe two more coming on. This is one of the more disappointing Den's I grow, not because it doesn't thrive, but it's one of those impossible to take pictures of, impossible to enjoy unless you're laying on the floor blooms. My breeder friend says they've been working on that droop for years, and still haven't gotten too far with a better form.
And here's me kneeling on the kitchen floor, attempting to take a better picture, while holding back two of the canes. It reminds me of a Catt species I have that's much smaller, but just as droopy.

If you hang it above you in a basket won’t they be optimally positioned?
