First Cymb of the year
As usual, this one is the first to bloom...couldn't get closer for a better photo because I would have to go through a Cymb forest what might break some of their spikes.
Anyway, here it is:

That's lovely. A forest of Cymbidiums sounds like the kind of place I'd love to get lost in for awhile.

Thank you, Carol! In fact I neglect them a lot. They're like cats, don't need anyone to take care of them (almost)

God, I wish I could grow those. In North Texas, our fall lasts long enough that I can get them to spike, but then about November or so, it gets too cold and I have to bring them inside, and the buds blast. I have a house with a garage now, maybe I could give it another shot, and move the plants into the garage on nights when the temperature is below freezing (which is actually not very many nights in Texas when it's below freezing). Next time I see one for sale, i may just go ahead and buy it.

Low 30sF (around 0c) down to the mid 20sf (-3 or -4c). Our daytime temperatures in the winter are usually acceptable, if not ideal, but those nights in the mid 20s would definitely kill the buds, and maybe even burn the leaves. And then we have an occasional cold spell and the temperature stays below freezing for a week or two, and that's when the buds blast, when I have to keep the plant inside for two weeks straight.

My lower temps are around 0º C to 5ºC. This lasts for 2 months, at least. Occasionally, it gets bellow freezing.
If you put them in a sheltered place, away from the wind and with minimum watering.
