Bl. Yellow Bird
Default Bl. Yellow Bird

First bloom on this one. Nice to see after surviving a plague of caterpillars. All its new growths were devoured in Nov, but hopefully it'll bounce back.

I believe the pink fades gracefully to a pure yellow over the next few days, like many of the hybrids with Bl. Richard Mueller in its parentage.

Very nice looking blooms, thanks for sharing! Seems like a nice surprise that it did flower despite getting munched on.
I've added it to my wishlist, I love color changing orchids like these.

Lol about the jerk caterpillars. They really are a nuisance though non-plant lovers think they are cute. Does this flower change colors over time, it looks like it could.

Mine just finished blooming and started out the color of yours. It changed to yellow within a few days. I hope those caterpillars turned into butterflies! As usual, good growing Jeff214.

There's been a relentless barrage of pests since I moved to California... butterfly and moth caterpillars, snails, possible squirrel? But I think I've finally got it under control now. Now time for the blooms!

Thanks! The change in color is fantastic. I wonder if this color change is a trait seen in Cattleya milleri? or something distinct in Bl. Richard Mueller.

Lovely! I didn’t know this one changes colors. I really do like seeing the Brassavola hybrids, they have such charming flowers. And sorry about the caterpillars. Those can do some serious damage in no time at all. My little Anoles that live in the courtyard take care of a lot but I had a nest of something hatch above my shade house over the summer.
So. Much. Damage.
