NOID Tolumnia

It's not really a NOID forever. There's a tag at the bottom of the pot, but the other one fell out.

It's pretty, but mainly I want to direct your attention to the little brown stub in between the two side shoots of blooms. Can ya see it? That was over a foot long, right up until I broke it off. Grrrr.

Despite my clumsyness, it did decide to grace me with a couple of side shoots, plus one coming up at back of photo that's in tight spike. Thought if I gave it a showtime, it might forgive me by next year.

PS It's been in SH for a few years. The saucer below it was just to catch water drips. It sits in a bowl with water about halfway up the pot.

sucks about the spike..i did that with one of my brassavolas and it bounced back with a secondary spike off the main one...its great when our mistakes aren't too costly

that is a really painful habit to have my friend....

is it clumsiness when moving them around or do you damage the spikes in watering? I have only broken two spikes, both by being a idiot, and swinging my spray wand around like I was conducting the Cleveland Orchestra...

Clumsy. Old arthritic, damaged from digging in the dirt, lifting rock, countless hours on a keyboard, as I said in the Project Phoenix thread. Meh, it’s just life. Dropping them isn’t at all helpful either.

Thought y'all would find this interesting. When I broke off the middle spike of this I brought it upstairs, as the other two branches were starting to open. It was in Batcave, which I try to keep at least 65f. But it drops down to mid fifties from time to time, especially when the heater goes belly up. The spike you can see in the back, in middle between two that were in bloom, was just starting up, no buds, just spike. So it was in one of the warmest areas of house while budding, etc.

Check out the difference in color with a warmer temperature during the growth and bloom of last spike...
