Vanda Melanie Coronado 'Pacific Paradise'
I am very excited about this orchids blooming. I was under the impression that semi-teret Vanda's were very hard to bloom. I got this mid-february and kept it in a southern window and moved it outside in may. I found the spike in the beginning of july.

It is a real beauty. Terete and semi terete require the most light to bloom so my guess might be that it was aided by the bright light from the pool area.

It is beautiful, and congrats on getting a simi terete to bloom without a greenhouse.

Amazing! I am interested in how you manage to grow such a healthy plant in the house.

I just got it last Feb. and kept it in southern windows and skylights. It got a shower just about every morning and fertilized every few weeks.
Even when I moved it outside, our weather was terrible. We didn't have much sun until july. I did not expect it to bloom for me, but it did.
In the "Do you choose your orchids wisely" poll, this is the orchid I had in mind when I picked NO.

Beverly, congratulations on a beautiful bloom. I don't think that teretes and semis are hard to bloom, in southern Fla. where I live, but in CT.? Well I would say that I wouldn't call it easy.
P.S. It's beautiful by the way, specially against that blue background.
