Default One more Paph has opened...

One more of my Paphs has started flowering. This is a first time flowering seedling that I got just last year.

Paph. Venus Legend The label says (purpurescens x venustum var. pardinum) but I checked with the breeder and they say that purpurescens is a syn. virens.

I cut the spike on Paph Envy Green, as it is a single growth seedling and I want to try to get more blooms next time, so I want it to focus on producing more growths. Paph Pinocchio has opened another flower too. Apart from those, I still have the two others of this type in flower. Here is a photo of the three of them together:

(Left to Right: Hsinying Alien (showing a much greener dorsal on this second flower), Maude Read, and Venus Legend)

Two more plants have flowers about to open soon, and there are 4 more plants starting to spike so I'm looking forward to all of the flowers brightening up these dull, dark days of winter!! Paphs are fantastic for that!

Way to go! I really like all of them, but I think the vini is my favorite.

Great paphs! You sure got blooms quickly since you say they are seedlings.

Thanks everyone! I don't think I can pick a favourite either, Gloria. I really like all of them - unfortunately once all of the seedlings grow up, I will have to thin them out some or there just won't be enough space for them all.

Camille, these coloratum and vinicolor types seem to grow a lot faster, and bloom a lot earlier than other types of Paphs. It also depends on how old the 'seedlings' are when you get them. Some of the seedlings I've got were just potted on from community pots. Others were a bit older when I got them. These ones are all still single growth plants, with a new growth starting.... which means they're babies still, really.

Plenty more still to flower this winter - so don't pick a fave yet!!

Thanks for looking everyone!
