Peninsula Orchid Society Show & Sale, Jan 26-27

This event on January 26th and 27th in Redwood City, California, gives local orchid lovers a chance to show off their orchids, attend seminars and find new orchids to add to their collections or give as gifts.

Events include a judged show, American Orchid Society judging, Cymbidium Society of America judging, seminars, sales by nine California orchid nurseries and sales by club members. The event takes place at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Ave, Redwood City, California. The show is open from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Admission is $7, children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult.

"This is the right size show for many people. Easy to visit the show area, the sales areas, attend one of the presentations on orchid care and still have energy for the rest of your weekend" said Chaunie Langland, this years chairperson. "Club members love to show off their beautiful or unusual orchids, get together with show
visitors who want to know more about their own orchids and, of course, buy more orchids. Walking into the show room and the sales rooms with the all the beautiful colors and fragrances is like going on an instant tropical vacation."

Anyone may enter orchids (at no cost) in the show on Friday January 25, between 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Please read the show rules at Peninsula Orchid Society.

Our participating vendor nurseries are:

• Asbell’s Orchids - located in Arroyo Grande, great Cymbidiums and other outdoor growing orchids.
• Botanico - located in San Francisco, sells a wide variety of orchids.
• Brookside Orchids - located near Menlo Park, Brookside offers a wide variety of orchids at their sales booths at local shows and at their nursery in Portola Valley. Orchids Delivered To Your Door
• Cal-Orchid - located in Santa Barbara, famous for Japanese-bred Lycastes, jewel color Epidendrums, African orchids and more. Cal-Orchid Inc.
• D & D Flowers - located in Daly City, grows a large variety of orchids.
• Gold Country Orchids - located near Sacramento, Alan Koch is known world-wide for his mini-Cattleyas (blooming up to 3 times per year) and Cattleyas as well as other genera. Gold Country Orchids

• Orchids and Gardens - located in Fresno, sells a wide variety of orchids suitable for the windowsill grower plus cute garden items.
• Sorella Orchids - located in Oxnard, last year they brought many nice Vandas and other warm growing orchids.

Visitors are also welcome to attend the Peninsula Orchid Society meetings held at 7 p.m. on the fourth Friday, February through November, at the San Mateo Garden Center, 605 Parkside Way, in San Mateo. The December meeting is held on the third Friday and there is no meeting in January due to the annual orchid show.
