Once again, I'm probably gonna miss this one. It's not like I have a sophisticated orchid palate anyways, since I am quite happy with my generic NoIDs, but there are a lot of orchids that I would like to see in real life. Next year I will have a master list of what I want, and hopefully a big bundle of cash for some named plants.

Saturday! I have work all weekend but it looks like I can make it just on Saturday morning before I must get to work at 4pm.
Time to get up early for some power- shopping!!
The expo last year is what got me into all this, so I barely knew what I was looking at-- this time around, I have a LIST. I've been looking forward to this!

Just got home from SF and POE. The show was smaller than I remember, both the exhibits and vendors. Less crowded too, easy parking (no guarantee for Saturday/Sunday, other stuff maybe going on).
Notably absent was Ten Shin Gardens but plenty of others. Less flasks (last year there was a good sized vendor with LOTS of flasks). Golden Gate was there but no Tom (he retired?). Andy and Bill were there (no sign of Harry). 3 or 4 from Hawaii (Kawamoto being one of them), SVO, Peruflora, I think I saw Carmela.
Smelled really crappy weed or someone was smoking tea leaves on Haight (not un-plausible, its the upper Haight) where we had dinner.
Just a quick report.

Satomi was there. She forgot my screw leaf Neo. I saw a couple of the Meikan upper level plants (can't remember the names). I ended up with a pricy (not Jayfar pricy) little freakish Nishide Miyako, a Nagoran in near bloom spike (because I'm tired of waiting if not killing them) and a new hybrid Cym goeringii x ensifolium (I think she had them on Ebay)-veriagated, twisty leaves.
She said the Cym is new and doesn't know what the flowers will be like. I'm not a Cym grower, so don't much care about the flower. She said the largest/oldest one she knows is about 3x taller than mine (~4 cm) and the other 2 there and it hadn't flowered yet. I have a few years to go probably but the leaves are a trip!
Pics and the rest of the haul tomorrow (rather later today).

Actually saw a few vendors with Sedirea Japonica this year.

Crappy weed in the Haight? No excuse for that, they should have the good stuff.
Sedirea japonica is on my list for sure, if Seed Engei is around I'm all over that.
SVO is my first and last stop though, if I see nothing else at the show that's the one. Totally blew me away last year-- so many different fragrances! That's what suckered me into this whole thing.
Not gonna get much sleep tonight, ah well.
Maybe I'll see some of you folks around!
