The deed is done! Finally have a Black Pearl-- with two growing points!
Been busy bewildering folks with all my talk of semi-hydro and fish poo...
If you see me, I'll be the one smelling everything.

My haul:
•Aerangis luteo-alba in spike (duplicate for the one that won't flower)
•Schoenorchis fragrans (duplicate for the one that is a year or two away from flowering)
•Hexisea bidentata (because I can't get my hands on inbricata)
•Bulbo. vaginatum
•Sigmatostalix picturissima (duplicate for the sickly one just hanging on in S/H)
•Dendrochilum convallariaeforme var. minor (bought as a size comparison for the var. convallariaeforme)
•Grosourdya appendiculata
•Sophronitis cernua
•Den. aberrans (duplicate for the one I torture, can't seem to get the culture right)
•Den. porphyrochilum
•Cym. goeringii x ensifolium
•Sedirea japonica in spike (standard Nagoran duplicate because I want to smell one before I give up completely)
•Neo. Nishide Miyako
I'll post pics of the flowering ones in their respective alliance forums.

Darn! This was on my list but I didn't see it anywhere...too many plants and got a bit overwhelmed. First time going but had a great time and spent too much anyway. Hehe.

It was fantastic! I went on Sunday. Tom Perlite was there, but too many people around him to get through. Only had one item on the list, Comparettia speciosa and got it from Andy's. Just emailed them ahead of time and they set one aside for me. Awfully nice of them for such a small order. I think I paid them back when I told a skeptical customer how easy L. Anceps is to grow outdoors around here. Used the word indestructible to describe L. anceps. That customer then proceeded to buy a specimen sized one. Also, got a large C. loddiggessii seedling. Hope I get lucky with how the flower looks. Seedlings are a gamble.

I had a list, the vendors all spotted my list. They rubbed their hands together spotting my list. They morphed into the wolf from the red riding hood story!
Actually, looking over my list, couple of the vendors advised me about a couple of the plants. I got the impression that there are sellers duping people (not at the show). I can't remember specifically which plants but the ones I didn't find at the show.

I've had good experiences with vendors at the POE show and other local shows too. I wish SBOE would come up here to the shows. They have a lot of orchids I would like to have. Maybe it's a good thing they weren't there. LOL.
Anon Y Mous, I like the orchids on your list. Good thing I can't find your grow area!

Pacific Orchid Expo 2014
Were there a lot of vendors selling NOID Phals like last year?
Anyone have any pictures of the show to share?

My hands were too full to take pictures!
This show was smaller than last year. I didn't go to one corner because it looked like all sorts of NoIDs. There was one vendor who trained their Phal inflorescence into a spiral, presumably NoIDs.
There must be demands for NoIDs, even at shows. Otherwise they wouldn't be there.
This show caters to a broader audience than those of us who post here. I've not been to another show of like size so don't know if they have NoIDs. The other smaller Bay Area shows (Orchids in the Park, San Jose Orchid Expo) cater more to the serious collectors but fewer vendors. I can see SJ's show morph into a more pedestrian collection of plants just because of the location (Winchester Mystery House).
