Western NC Orchid Society Annual Orchid Show

Been dying to go to a show. This one is a few hours drive for me, but closer than CA Or FL! Really hoping to make it. It'll be my first show ever.

March 23&24 10-5 both days. Judging takes place on 22nd. At NC Arboretum, Asheville, NC, 100 Frederick Law Olmstead Way

World-class orchid growers from around the country and regional orchid societies will fill the exhibition hall with dazzling color, exotic scents, and hints of an ancient world in carefully crafted displays.

Vendors will offer orchid supplies and plants for purchase, including the rare and hard-to-find. WNC Orchid Society members will be available to answer questions and provide orchid-growing advice. Visitors will also have the opportunity to attend a number of educational programs given by professional orchid growers and hybridizers. Cynthia Gillooly of B.B. Barns, The Garden Company, will offer growing tips and repotting techniques. Hadley Cash of Marriott Orchids will discuss the latest in new available hybrids, and guests will have the opportunity to tour stunning orchid exhibits with Tom Nasser of Carolina Orchids, who will share his in-depth knowledge of the orchids on display.

Thanks for the encouragement! Still trying to decide if I can gear up for 9 hour round trip in a day. REALLY want to go. Tom Nasser from Carolina Orchids will be there--he's known for having a wider variety of angraecums than most and I love the angraecums. Plus vendors from around the world, classes, orchids for sale...I'd be in heaven!

If you go, go the night before so you get to the show when it opens! The best stuff sells quickly! Or, call the vendor, ask what angs he can bring and pre-order them. That way, you aren't disappointed.
