Two orchid shows in Northeast Ohio!
If you live in Northwest Ohio and need an orchid fix, there are two shows coming up:
The first is Greater Akron Orchid show on Saturday, March 2, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, March 3, 11am to 4pm.
It will take place at Donzell's Flower & Garden Center, 937 East Waterloo Road, Akron Ohio 44306
The second, on March 9 & 10, is the West Shore Orchid Show at the Strongsville Recreation Center, 18100 Royalton Road, Strongsville, Ohio, 44136
Admission and parking are free at both shows so all your money can be spent for orchids!
There are the usual orchid displays, vendors, and judging. If you are in the area on those days and longing for an orchid fix or two....

Wish I could go! I'm coaching meets both weekends (one in Canton, ironically enough) and my swimmers would probably notice if I wasn't there!

Ah, swimming! We had three swimmers but now will only have one (the second graduates). Good luck at the meet! Hope your team does great! And yes, where else would you want to be if there is a swimmeet? Nothing is as exciting as that last relay that signals the end of the meet!

Thanks Leafmite!
It's the last meet of the season for most of our kids this weekend, although I have several going on to Ohio's JO Championship and the YMCA Great Lakes Zone Championship over the next couple of weeks (and they are good enough they might win some events). Once the season is over maybe I can make some shows....There's one in Colubus April 6 and 7 at Franklin Park Conservatory.

Our girls did the YMCA program but never made it to zones. They had fun, though. It is always exciting to see the kids do well. I hope your kids qualify! Good luck!
I just posted this as when I started out, I never knew of shows or societies and when I did, I never imagine Ohio might have them. No one I know in my town grows houseplants or knows what an orchid is! Turns out, Ohio has plenty of societies and shows.

Internet has made it a lot easier to find clubs and shows, hasn't it? My problem is finding time to make it to meetings and events--there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do!
If you go to either of the shows in March, let me know what I missed--or be kind and tell me there was nothing there so I won't feel so deprived (although I gotta admit that I love coaching and have a great bunch of kids to work with, so it takes a lot to make me feel like I'm missing out when I work with them!).
Thanks for wishing us luck! My swimmers were bouncing off the walls at the team pizza party tonight.

If you attend ones nearby, you will have the same fun, the same experience, honestly. These two aren't huge ones as you would find in California or Florida. They just offer a fix, the same as a show near where you live. The Columbus one should be very nice.

Have fun, Ron! We were signed up to help for a couple of hours and I realize that our show needs a few members just on hand to help visitors and answer questions. I think I am going to volunteer to do that next year instead of being tied down. So many very nice people attended and I really enjoyed meeting them. I wished they had all joined. Love the shows!
Didn't have much time to shop (kids were eager to go) but managed to grab an onc. Twinkle.
