Katie, I couldn't possibly pick only one! I have a feeling a few will just jump out at you.

Pete, the best plants go fast. I'd go on Sat if I could. If Orchidview is there, I may even camp out on Thursday. Just kidding! (sort of)

Is there a list of vendors that will be at the show posted anywhere? Speciifically, I hope that BigLeaf and Orchidview will be there.

Also, what is the best day to attend - Sat or Sun?
Hey Pete -- This too will be my first orchid show!! Congrats! If you go to the longwood gardens website you can click on a link and it will give you a list of vendors! I don't know which is the best day to go but I think I might go on Saturday.

Here's the link with vendors International Orchid Show & Sale 2010 - Events - Longwood Gardens

This is def. the show to go to in the northeast. I've never seen Big Leaf at an N. East Coast show, or Orchidview, but there is a great selection of vendors!

And as far as what day to go...I've gone on Saturdays the past 2 years, and this year I am going to go Friday and Saturday! I want to be there as soon as the sale starts!

Also, while the best stuff goes fast, there are often big discounts on Sundays, as vendors don't want to lug stuff back with them!

If anyone is there Friday afternoon (I'll be there from 1:30-3:30), come by the SEPOS help desk and say "Hi".

The orchid show was AMAZING today! I picked up two new babies today: a mounted Sedeira japonica from Andy's Orchids and a potted Phalaenopsis equestris in bud!

I've attached photos for your viewing pleasure

Nice Katie! I wish I could have gone, but it's too far for a weekend. Maybe next year I'll take Friday off and spend the weekend in the area.

Well, I arrived at the show with my wife at 10am sharp. This was my first orchid show and I cannot imagine any show being better! As Katie commented earlier, the show was absolutely first class, top-notch, AMAZING! The orchids were clearly the stars of the show, but the organizers (SEPOS), the displays, the booth attendants, Longwood Gardens, retail participants and the general public all get Blue Ribbons in my book.

Everyone was super-friendly and just "sucking-in" the "show" that the orchids provided. Flash bulbs were bursting at all the displays. I only had the opportunity to spend 2 1/2 hours at the show as my son is very involved in baseball and we had a mid-afternoon committment. Two and a half hours was not enough! We literally could have spent all day and will do just that next year.

My time constraints severely limited the time that I could spend in the vendor tent so I couldn't peruse as thoroughly as I would have liked. I purchased a Phal. violacea var. Malaysia (seedling) and a Phal. Bellina (seedling) from Oak Hill. I purchased a multiflora Phal from Stony Brook Orchids that is called Pinlong Cheris 'Fragrance #2'. Big thumbs-up to Stony Brook!

Here are a couple pics of a Phal. equestris:

I want this Cymbidium(?):

Much Thanks to SEPOS:

I have boatloads of more pics, just too many to post here. Hope you enjoyed!

Pete, the plant you are unsure about being a Cymbidium is a Den. thrysiflorum I think (def a Dendrobium though!). I have a pic of that plant too!

I bought 12 plants over Friday and Sat., it was great!

My purchases were:
Aeranthes arachnites (def. my biggest score for the show!)
Phal. javanica
Phal. violacea
Trichopilia tortilis
Baptistonia echinata
Den. canaliculatum
Prosthecea cochleatum alba
Phal. mannii alba (aurea?)
Darwinara Fuchs Cream Puff x Ascocentrum miniatum
Maui Plum x Lc. Love Knot
Den. loddigesi
Den. Rainbow Dance

Plus I took about 300 pics as well! Displays were amazing.
