Wow, I'm so jealous of those of you who are going! Too far, and too expensive for me. What a really REALLY regret is that I wasn't an orchid addict yet at the time of the 2005 WOC. It was held in France in a city only about 2 hours away from me... I got into orchids less than a year after it.

My feelings exactly! Although Florida three years ago would have been a two hour plane ride for me, had I been further into my orchid obsession as I am now....I'd have been there 2008.
As it stands, Singapore is out of reach for me

Interesting but I got airfares for $400 return which I consider quite cheap for an international fare. I am sure if you want to go you might be able to find a deal.
If not you can live the experience through us.......yes I am generous I know.

Bolero, please don't talk about your $400 air fare, my stomach is rolling! All the same I'm sure what we're paying for our excursion will be well worth it. We are also doing 1 week in China after the week at the conference. I'm sure between the few of us there will will have tons of awesome photos to share.

Hi all,
For those of you who are confirmed coming to Singapore for 20th World Orchid Conference, Spider Orchid LLP welcomes you to our tiny little island state! The last time the World Orchid Conference was held in Singapore was in 1963 when Singapore was not independant yet and we were still part of Malaysia! Anyways, Spider Orchid LLP is a provider of educational tours and workshops with themes centering on natural heritage, history and art in Singapore. We are very interested in raising the awareness of the history of orchids in Singapore, plus some of the very interesting stories behind some of the personalities and beautiful orchids of Singapore. The founders of Spider Orchid were orignally based in the world famous Mandai Orchid Garden in Singapore - unfortunately, the Mandai Orchid Garden is closed now. We have so much archival information, etc about that historic Garden ... but sadly, it is closed because the land lease has expired and the Singapore government has other plans for the land. Mandai Orchid Garden was just conveniently next to the Singapore Zoological Garden - which is another must-visit place, as our Zoo is an open concept zoo.
Please visit our website at Spider Orchid | Specialised in Natural, Heritage and Orchid Tours | Purveyors of Fine Natural Heritage Education or write an email to me at alice@spiderorchid.com.sg if you need more information.

20th World Orchid Conference - Singapore
A local grower/HOS member and his wife are going. They are also going on an additional tour afterwards. I tried to convince him to let me go along in his suitcase but no joy. Right now he is concerned with getting permits to import plants.
Does anyone know when the next conference will be held a little closer to (USA) home?
Please, those of you who are so fortunate as to be going, your pictures, impressions, etc.

The next one is in South Africa but after that no one knows where the next ones will be. I have heard that Canada is bidding for 2017 though so fingers crossed for that.

Oh well, I guess there is always Redlands next year. At least I could drive there (three or so days). Thanks Bolero.
