GVOS Orchid show in Grand Rapids Michigan
I hesitated to post this but thought I must. This was my first show, but I've seen pics of other shows. If you've never been to a local Orchid Show - GO! Don't even think twice! This show was very well run and had lots of displays and lots of people. At times the vendors were swamped. I hope the volume of people I saw is indicative of the sales the vendors saw. I got to meet Littlefrog, I got to talk with other vendors I hope to do business with in the future and I saw lots of very interesting flowing plants. In my mind, Hoosier Orchids' display was my favorite. They seem to have lots more minis than the on-line store suggests, and they got lots of awards. I plan to visit more shows in the fiture, in part because of this one. I left a OrchidBoard flier with Littlefrog and hope we get some new members as a result of this flier. Thanks, Rob.

He was VERY busy! And I felt guilty taking his time. Rob was very gracious, I bought some potting mix from him, and I think he is a valuable member of this board.

I was there, yesterday, setting up the Ann Arbor Orchid Society display. I didn't pay much attention to the displays since we were focussed on ours when we weren't shopping. The GVOS always has a great show. We had a great time.

The orchid board tear off flyer was gone by the end of the day Saturday (should have had two, I guess).
It was a great show. Met more than a few people from various online places.

I wondered about that But I had NO idea there would be so many people and that there would be that many who would be interested. Now if we get a stronger base of members from Michigan, that would be a good thing.

Ross, sounds like you had a great first experience!
and I'm always happy to hear of our members meeting in person
That's how I was at my first show. Since then, I've been involved in a few shows and I now understand just how much work goes into putting together a wonderful show. Societies and vendors put LOTS of time and effort into creating a show that makes you go...WOW! I've yet to see one that I wasn't impressed by...kudos to all those who make it happen and look so flawless
For anybody interested, here's a link to the OB tear-off sheet:

Sue, thanks for the wake-up on my suggestion for such a tear-off sheet in an earlier posting (duh!) I would hope the Board would raise the level of awareness (somehow) that such a sheet already exists and encourage current Orchid Board members to post the sheet prominantly at any locations where prospective members frequent. Only then can we grow (well.... not ONLY) and get the wide range of membership that allows each of us to grow in our hobby. I, for one, have grown tremendusly in this hobby from the association I've had with you fellow-OrchidBoard members (and mods )
