Default Oklahoma Orchid Society

I attended the Oklahoma Orchid Society orchid show in Oklahoma City today.
This was my first orchid show.
The members were so nice I decided to join.
Nice orchids for sale.

I bought:
Pcv. Key Lime Stars (first bloom)
lc canhamiana 4n
Onc. Aka Baby 'Raspberry Chocolate'

The show is also Sunday May 7 if you are near OKC.
(I may go back at the end of the show to see what is still for sale!)

Nice! I'm interested to see how that Canhamiana turns out. I see Waldor is selling a similar cross, it might even be the same one.

Orchidman77, yeah, I'm really curious too.
The vendor was from Kansas but was a reseller.
The one Waldor has is in a 2.5 inch pot and mine is 3.5 inch pot.
I wanted a Purpurata and this looks like the semi alba form so we'll have to wait and see.

I checked the Key Lime Stars last night and it has a sweet (Honeysuckle?) scent but only when I put my nose up to it.

The Onc. Aka Baby 'Raspberry Chocolate' is a cross between Onc sharry baby and Onc Jimbo. I can't find much info about Onc Jimbo but I'm hoping it is smaller and makes this one smaller than Sharry baby.

I won't be able to get back to the show today (Bummed).

C. (Lc) Canhamiana is a primary cross of C. mossiae x C. (L) purpurata. VERY floriferous, a little more compact than purpurata with fuller flowers, quite vigorous. If this is a 4n, should be especially lovely.

You can look up a named orchid's ancestry at orchidroots.com . This will give you and idea of what to expect. You can do further reading about the species ancestors at orchidspecies.com to get some idea of the temperature and light tolerance of hybrids.

In this case Oncidium Jimbo is listed on orchidroots.

Is the flower brand new? Maybe it needs time?

On the Key Lime Stars, I could smell the sweet (Honey suckle?) fragrance from 3 feet away tonight.
The light was off since sunset and I checked it at 10:30.
This is a young orchid, first blooming.
