Huntington Library Orchid Show and Sale - Orchid Board

A few months off but thought I would post any way.

October 14-October 16

Not posted on their website yet but when I was there two weeks ago found some flyers about it in the conservatory.

Did anyone go to this? I thought it was a good show. Amazing and beautiful orchids on display and there were some new vendors at least for me. There were also some empty vendor tables. Both Andy's Orchids and Tuyet were on the vendor list but they weren't there. Was hoping that the Huntington would have some of their own orchids for sale but they didn't. I'm assuming that they might have some available during their Fall plant sale.

Only purchased 5 orchids: Cattleya aurantiaca, a Cattleya hybrid, Restrepia contorta, Laelia Anceps San Bar Bounty and Trichocentrum tigrinum. I have a feeling that the tigrinum may be best suited for a greenhouse which I don't have. Probably OK outdoors in the summer and possibly spring/early fall but not the winter months.

No, I meant to drive up there but got lazy. Sounds like you got a nice haul!

Did you purchase anything? I thought about going back on Sunday to see if there were any bargains but had other things to do. Was there on Thursday to participate in ribbon judging and see if I could do some early shopping and then back Friday. One vendor was supposed to hold a plant for me but when I went back on Friday it was gone and no one knew if it was sold or what happened to it.

I knew that Andy wasn't going to show up at the Huntington... he dropped the Huntington from his website, I think in early September. Was there one day and gone the next. Think he is mostly concentrating on his open houses.

According to his website he is going to be in Mass. this weekend and San Diego the next weekend.

The Mass. trip appeared a bit before he dropped the Huntington. SD is easy since it's in his back yard.
