The Desert Valley Orchid Society (DVOS) invites out of town speakers for fall-winter-spring meetings, then has members speak during the summer (when nobody wants to visit.) We have had virtual meetings for the last year. Our meeting site has permitted us to again hold meetings, so this was our first meeting in person since May 2020.
DVOS member Leo Martin spoke Thursday, June 17, beginning just about as the temperature at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport reached 118 F / 48C. The topic was Orchid Pests. Some of the talk concerned local problems, but much concerned common greenhouse pests. This was our first meeting using Zoom via the locale WiFi, so there are a few technical difficulties, and the speaker needed to speak loudly.
The recording is available here, for a limited time. I will edit this message to remove the link when the Society decides to take it down.
