Al's Orchid Greenhouse Caught Fire
Default Al's Orchid Greenhouse Caught Fire

Hi Guys,
I wasnt exactly sure where to post this, so I figured this was the best place. Virginia's famous Al's Orchid Greenhouse of Leesburg Al's Orchid Greenhouse caught fire last Friday evening. I am sure that Al could use well wishes. I am going to be culling through my collection to see if there are duplicates that I bought from him in the past that he might need to get his business back up and running. The loss must have been unbearable. Say a pray for Mr. Pickrel.

It always is a shock when a valid orchid business suffers a set-back of any sort. Hopefully they will be back in short order. Thanks for the head's up.

How horrible!! I stopped there once (before my orchid addiction), a few years back when I lived in Herndon VA. We would often drive by since it was less than 20 miles from us. It was a nice place.
I really hope he gets back in business quickly!

Wow - this is very sad news indeed. Al's was the first greenhouse Mateo and I visited about a year ago and really got us started. My very first orchid was a twinkle oncidium from his collection. Al even went so far as to generous give us cuttings from his amazing begonias that have grown into large plants that I admire every day...

Is there any additional news or information as to how we might be able to help him overcome this misfortune?

Joy

Call him, check his website for the number. He might need some keikis from whatever you have in your collection in the event that he lost an entire line of orchids to fire.

Just an update. They're back up and running to walk-ins and will soon have the website going again. How amazing is that!
