Rooting cuttings in NZ sphagnum moss?
Default Rooting cuttings in NZ sphagnum moss?

Has anyone here ever tried rooting cuttings with NZ sphagnum moss? I had enough NZ sphagnum on hand so I decided to give it a try. I used Dip and Grow rooting hormone and am trying cuttings of citrus reticulata, Manilkara zapota, Psidium guajava, and a Cinnamomum zeylanicum.

I have always made my cuttings with root-tone (a powder) and peat in the past so this will be a new experience for me. I just wondered if anyone else has tried and succeeded with it.

Citrus cuttings generally don't root. You can grow seeds, then graft onto them when they are pencil thickness.

Guavas root easily.

I don't know about the other two. I suspect chico zapote won't, because all the plants offered for sale are seedlings or grafted.
