Default Ebay as a Knowledge Resource

It occurred to me that ebay can be educational. Not as a remorseful lesson learned but in identification.

Where else can you see a random plant you like and get it's name? Big vendor sites like Andy's require you to have genus names to see the plants. It's a starting point.

Buying from ebay is another story...Caveat Emptor!

How true! Not just orchids but other items can be identified as well. I had lost my instructions to my older Lego train and had no idea what model it was. I was able to find the train on ebay, write down the name and download the instruction manuals from another site. It was great.

I have seen many mislabeled plants offered on eBay, so am broadly distrustful of them.

True. Perhaps wiser to say it can provide one with possible avenues to investigate.

Eh, nothing is perfect.

I recently got a mislabeled (by a well known South American vendor) plant via ebay but it was uncommon enough and close enough that I don't mind.

I still think it's a good place for a newbie to peruse.
