Default bug eaters are just cranking up.

Here in Portland or they do well with no progression. But the flytraps need protected from the wind when it is 20 degrees out as the humidity here is pretty high too. Other then that the pitcher plants are always first to bloom. I have several pots of different types but right now it is pretty much just all flowers. the sundews are really cool outside but they can be tricky. in the background you see a stag horn sundew. it is not really hardy here but it seems to do well. there is a black flytrap that is always slower to come out. the flytraps really do well once the heat goes up. the hotter the better. the porch tends to get really hot since there is blacktop all around we are at the top of a hill. i think the hottest was 118 degrees. the only pain with them is keeping the weeds out of the pots. I had to repot them all to get all the weeds and it has been a battle every sense. I am trying to get moss and such to grow in them to keep the weeds down.

Cool. I used to grow lots of carnivorous plants as well but everything died when I went away for a few weeks and the only survivor is a Nepenthes rafflesiana.

with the large pots they only need water at most twice a week. they are pretty expensive to start out with. all thats left for me would be different colors of pitcher plants.

You're making more work for yourself! In the PNW if you plant them in the ground most native cps are as carefree as a plant gets.
