Very good ES, I was indeed digging a bit, although the bulk of that was done in MUCH cooler weather than we're currently experiencing! Supposed to hit 98°, it's 95°at 12:30. The digging was just a bit of fine tuning for the footing for the wall I'm building. I got an early start, and had it poured and mostly cleaned up by the time It hit 80°! It and the liner will partition the orchid bog from the rest of the yard, so this is most certainly for my orchids!

I should have built a basket by now. Have everything ready but lately I've been lazy.

I watered the orchids and kept going back to smell the Vanda falcata (wild-type) in bloom. It is cloudy so there is a nice fragrance even during the day.

It is hot here, too. We are going to need to look into insulating the house and getting air-conditioning. The fans are just not enough!

Yesterday, I tried to identify the Bulbophyllums. When I moved them to the tank last year, I forgot to move the tags with them. Grrr. Most of them were easy but there were about four that are a little doubtful. I have a list and tags so I know what I should have but those all are about the same size and have the same pseudobulb and leaf shape. I try not to collect the ones that will smell bad but someone from my OS gave me a Bulbophyllum carunculatum seedling and the one that selfed it has told me that it 'perfumes' the entire greenhouse. Well, one of the Bulbos is exploding with new growth even more than all the other Bulbos...just exploding, and I am pretty certain that it is the carunculatum. Great, just great.

Flung off some snails from some of the ones outside (we've been getting some remnant Florence rain, which attracted a ton of snails and mosquitoes AND knocked the tent caterpillars out of their home tree and onto the orchids, SO it's been angering).

Put my snapped/chewed-off Epidendrum cristatum stem into a vial of water to try to keep it going long enough to keiki.
