VA Orchid Society Show haul!!
I got to go to the VA OS show at Strange's Garden Center yesterday, and I, showing great restraint, got three gorgeous plants.
From Chadwick's Orchids I got:
BLC. Orange Treat 'NN' - I had another small orange BLC a couple years ago that just turned brown and died all of a sudden, so I had to get a new one. It does have a slight floral scent to it.
Triple Love #6 - I think this is what the name is, the tag didn't print very well. I am emailing them to ask. This one is a lovely creamy white with a slight blush. It has a ton of buds, I could not tell if the example plant had a scent or not, my nose was a bit stuffy yesterday. EDIT: Yep, Pot. Triple Love is it!
I am not sure which grower I got this one from, I did not see their name on the booth, but they were very friendly:
FDK. After Dark 'Sunset Valley Orchids' - this was the only Catasetum there, it was on their "dented and exotics" table. With my recent successes with this genera, I could not resist the pretty blooms! This is my first After Dark! The camera gets the colors close, but not quite right. It does seem to have a slightly spicy scent.

Very nice selections! I'm getting itchy for show season to start around here. One more week to wait.

The show is normally in Mid to late February, but apparently the greenhouse was already booked for other events at the normal time. I was rather surprised to get an email and facebook notification from two of the vendors about the date change! But I am happy for it, because they probably would not have brought the same selections!
My husband has started doing some travelling for work, and I was hoping he was going to go down to Florida so I could go visit him around Redlands time, but no luck, he says it is too hot there in May.

Beautiful plants, gorgeous flowers! Finally a nice weekend to enjoy being out. Restraint is hard for me at shows.

Nice haul! Winter is getting to me, it's been so dark and rainy since November (only 25 hours of sunshine in December!) that I NEED new orchids. Only one show per year in this country, but a nearby grower in Germany has their open house weekend in a month.
Love the Fdk After Dark! I plant on starting with Catasetinae this year, and this is one I had stopped on a grower's website and intend to order once the weather warms up.
