When your doctor tells you to go on a diet, I think that "ar" may be appropriate and short for "arghhhh".

Charles, when the Chief's levels were up, we started him in Red Rice Yeast and Co Q10 ( both popular for that use in Japan). He's pretty active, so we modified our diet somewhat. I used a book titled The New American Diet authored by Sonya and William Connor. Lots of good info and tasty recipes. You can still find it used, I'm sure. Good luck. Our levels are good, even though like OW we need to lose some weight.

Hi Charles! Happy Birthday!
The things known to reduce bad cholesterol include:
1. Choose your parents wisely - this is by far the most important.
2. Reduce or minimize animal fats - this is hard for most United Statians, but it works.
3. Begin with light aerobic exercise and work your way up to an hour of vigorous aerobic exercise per day.
4. Go on a very low carbohydrate diet - this is also difficult for many people.
Not much increases good cholesterol other than heavy aerobic exercise and 2 ounces of alcohol per day for a man (no more, no less.)

Of alcohol. US beer is around 4-5% alcohol. A 12-ounce, 5% US beer would contain 5% of 12 ounces or 0.6 ounces of alcohol.
Wine is around 12% alcohol per the label. You can do the math.
